This piece of information was created before everything that happened within this event so far, I'm just posting it now so you can know about this even deeper.

Welcome to the first official edition of the kaos tournament that will be a part of season 2 of the official kaos events.

Nowadays the professional kaos scene is being resurrected once again by the official events powered by the Kf community that keeps the spirit alive.

I'm glad to announce that the most important kaos event is just about to begin.

First of all I'd like to thank you all for your interest and participation that you declared, it will be a great adventure of kaos on its highest level. A lot of action is coming.

Let's show and prove that succeeding in kaos scheme is something that requires mastering of various complexed techniques, managing the turntime effectively, darksiding and many more strategies. Only those who wield them all best will reach the top phases and emerge victorious.

This event will begin on Thursday 1st January (0:00 GMT time) and will last until the end of February.

All games must be played within that period. There will be one unreachable deadline for group stage and fixed dates for playoff phases.

All playoffs games (beginning from quarterfinals) will have their own deadlines in the month of February.


EVENT FORMAT
------------

There are 32 games to be played in this event.

The event will consist of 4 stages:

1) The group stage (1st January - 1st February)

24 group-games at 3 victories by 16 players (3 games per every player)

2) Quarterfinal stage (2-10 February)

4 quarterfinals at 5 victories by 8 players (4 games for those who fail in quarterfinals)

3) Semifinal stage (11-19 February)

2 semifinals at 7 victories by 4 players (5 games for those who lose in semifinals)

4) Final stage (20-28 February)

2 finals at 9 victories by 4 players - 3rd place match and final (6 games for semifinalists no matter the result)

All games will be hosted by the approved hosts only. You will know who will host your games as soon as the draw will be done.

All games should be arranged individually. Special threads will be prepared for your convenience. Should you experience problems with contacting a player, contact me or the one who will manage your games and these dudes will try to solve the problem.

Check the Kf boards for tournament updates that will be a friendly tool prepared especially for your convenience so you can't get confused and have a pleasant event.

The professional draw of groups will be held once the qualifiers are completed.

There will be 4 pots. Each group will consist of 4 players (1 player from every pot within each group).

The pots will be based on the official kaos ranking. The players who didn't participate in any official kaos events before will form last pot.

The criteria of forming pots are:

- players who participated in old seasons of kaos league (based on ranking)

- players who participated in season 1 of 2014 kaos league (based on ranking)

- players who participated in 2v2 open challenge only (based on overall basic points)

- unranked players who signed up also for league event within season 2 (by signing up order)

- unranked players who signed up just for the tournament event within season 2 (by signing up order)

The group stage will begin on 1st January and will last until 1st February.

The tournament will include competition in 4 groups of 4 players with scheme and rules used also in league format. The only exceptions are stated below.

Each player will have to play one game against everyone within their group. That will amount in 3 games for each player to be played in group stage.

Once all these games are played the best two players from each group (based on the criteria explained later) will advance to the next stage.

Group stage games will be played at 3 victories.


The criteria used to determine group standings will be as follows:

1. Amount of victories,

2. Greater Won/Lost rounds ratio,

3. Greater amount of rounds won,

4. Head 2 head result between tied players.


QUARTERFINAL STAGE
------------------

This stage will be played between 2nd and 10th February.

Players will be paired for quarterfinal matches as follows:

QF2 [B1 vs D2]
QF3 [C1 vs A2]
QF4 [D1 vs B2]

A1 = Group A winner
A2 = Group A runner up

... etc ...


Quaterfinal games will be played at 5 victories.

The ones who will be starting in each match will be determined on a group-stage criteria.

Winners of each quarterfinal will advance to the next stage.


SEMIFINAL STAGE
---------------

This stage will last between 11th and 19th February

The winners of quarterfinals will be paired as follows:

SF1 [QF1 vs QF2]
SF2 [QF3 vs QF4]

The semifinal matches will be played at 7 victories.

All four players attending this stage will advance to the last final stage.

The player who will be starting semifinal (and final) games will be the determined on criteria below:

- won by more rounds advantage in the stage before,

- performance count

- random, as game decides.


FINAL STAGE
-----------

This stage will take place between 20th and 28th February.

Losers of semifinals will meet in a 3rd place match.

Winners of semifinals will meet in the event's final.

Both matches of this stage will be played at 9 victories.

Winner of 3rd place match will get the money prize as specified in the rules.

Loser of event's final will be announced vice-champion of the event and will get the money prize as specified in the rules.

Winner of event's final will be declared the season 2 world champion of the official kaos tournament and will get the money prize as specified in the rules.

Prizes paid in full apply only to games completed in time.

Each day of breaking the deadlines will cause the prize money to drop by 10 Euro.

This shrinkage happens because 2 players resigned quite early on and it makes it the same amount of players as in season 1 that was also a 2 months one, plus the activity was huge in January so just a couple of games to be completed.

There will be separate topic for updated rankings / stats so all will be convenient just to make your life easier, when arranging all your games remember to find the host that is responsible for your games (will be announced in a few days).
